Do the grammatical errors add or detract to the writing?

Those are not grammatical errors - they are intentional dialect and there is a big difference. When you create a character who talks like that, then it is perfectly correct to use that dialect in your novel. But grammatical errors are blunders in English that you make either because you were careless or didn't know any better - and THOSE definitely detract from the writing
