How did the collapse of the Tsar and the takeover by the Bolsheviks impact the course and conduct of WW1?

Shortly after the Bolsheviks took power they signed a treaty with Germany at high cost to Russia which pulled Russia out of the First World War. This in turn free up a hugh number of German forces. The Germans were hoping to get these forces to the Western Front and bring the conflict in the West to a successful conclusion before the American forces could arrive in Europe in significant numbers and be ready to fight. Of course history shows they failed.
